Ben Klibreck, Map 19; 30th November 2003 & 12th July 2007

Route: 1035m=3400' ascent; 14.5kms = 9.0 miles; 4½hrs

Access: From Lairg take the A836 north. At the A838 turnoff, continue on the single track A836 for Altnaharra: 10.7 miles N to Crask Inn, then 1.9 miles more to the layby before the bridge at NC533272 in Strath Vagastie. This is 1km after a sharp bend to the right at the head of the strath, and just after the forestry on both sides stops, on the left first, then on the right.
Route: Easy grass/peat track all the way, even for contouring round Creag an Lochain, but mostly boggy, especially for the first mile and at col to E of Cnoc Sgriodain where there are peat hacks – so avoid if wet. No rocks to speak of: grass moorland throughout except a few rocks on pull-up after A'Chioch.
The standard route starts at the Crask Inn. The path from there to the slopes of Ben Klibreck may make that route a better choice. The route here is a little shorter but is probably otherwise very similar.
Comment: This can be combined with Ben Hope (half an hour's drive further north) in one day, but a starting point further north would be better for that.
