Carn Bhac, Beinn Iutharn Mhor & An Socach, map 43; 13th August 2005

Route: Cycling: 10.6 miles (1.75 hrs); Walking: 13.1 miles (6 hrs); Ascent: 4575'; Total 7.75 hrs.

Access: Bike used & very helpful for the 5+ miles each way between Inverey and Altanour.
Route: i) There is a path from the lodge to Carn Bhac. It follows the Alltan Odhar initially before heading fairly directly for the summit.
ii) The NE ridge of Beinn Iutharn Mhor may have a cornice in winter and early spring, necessitating the use of crampons and ice axe.
iii) On return to the lodge from An Socach there are useful bridges over the Allt Beinn Iutharn and Ey Burn at NO07858192, NO07898191 and NO08378236 (see Google Maps).
iv) The walk can be noticeably shortened by omitting some or all of the Munro Tops without losing any of the Munros.
v) Energetic walkers can extend the walk to include one or both of the Munros Carn nan Righ and Glas Tulaichean as here
Terrain: Mixture of heather, rocks & peat hacks; some paths. Not hard going, but not easy either – medium going throughout.
Weather: Showers & cloud AM, dry & cloudy with sunny intervals PM.
